I am a consultant cardiogist (heart specialist) working at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff with consulting rooms at Cardiff Spire and The Vale Hospital, Hensol. I qualified from the University of Wales in 1992 and entered specialist cardiology training in London in 1996. During my training I took a year out to specialise in Echocardiography in Vancover Canada. I then spent three years at The Washington Hospital Centre, Washington DC, United States, training in coronary angioplasty. During this period I studied the use of stem cells for the treatment of angina and heart failure. I have a special clinical interest in complex angiography and angioplasty, most of which I perform from the wrist. I qualified as a consultant cardiologist (heart specialist) in 2005. My research interests include cardiac pharmacology and in particular drugs to prevent clot formation. My current post is Director Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Lead Coronary Interventionalist at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. I am also an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University.
